چکیده

Background Sarcomeric gene mutations are responsible for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). In gene mutation carriers without significant left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy (G +LVH-), subtle abnormalities can exist as mitral valve elongation, crypts, markers of elevated LV systolic function, and abnormal apical trabeculation. Reverse curvature of the interventricular septum into the LV is a characteristic of G+LVH+ patients. We aimed to assess LV septal convexity into the LV in G+LVH-.

Abnormal septal convexity into the left ventricle occurs in subclinical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

BACKGROUND Sarcomeric gene mutations cause hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). In gene mutation carriers without left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy (G + LVH-), subclinical imaging biomarkers are recognized as predictors of overt HCM, consisting of anterior mitral valve leaflet elongation, myocardial crypts, hyperdynamic LV ejection fraction, and abnormal apical trabeculation. Reverse curvature of...

Maximal left ventricular wall thickness: a comparison between CMR and echocardiography in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Background Echocardiography (ECHO) is used for diagnosis and management of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Morphologic diagnosis is based on the presence of myocardial thickness of >15mm in adults or a septum to posterior wall ratio of >1.5. Septal wall thickness (WT) >30 mm is one of several high risk features that are used to guide the decision for prophylactic implantable cardioverter-def...

Echocardiographic mitral systolic motion in left ventricular aneurysm.

An abnormal, convex systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve, somewhat similar to that seen in idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy) and occasionally in atrial septal defect, was found on the echocardiogram in 8 out of 9 patients with angiographically (7 patients) and/or clinically (2 patients) diagnosed left ventricular aneurysm secondary to m...

Echocardiographic spectrum of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Echocardiographic patterns in 15 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy were compared with those in 30 healthy persons. Correlations with angiocardiographic data indicated that most of the anatomical abnormalities in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can be assessed reliably by echocardiography. These include abnormal mitral valve motion, a reduction of the anteroposterior dimension of the left ve...

Echocardiographic diagnosis of idiopathic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy without outflow obstruction.

The echocardiographic findings of eight patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy without outflow obstruction (HMC) and of 15 normal (Norm) individuals are presented. The characteristic features in HMC were: (1) interventricular septal width much greater than normal (HMC= 2.5 + 0.3 cm, Norm = 1.0 + 0.2 cm, P <0.005); (2) normal or only slightly increased posterior left ventricular wall thicknes...
